Check to see if something is inhibiting the fan in the bottom vents like leaves or mulch.
Water may leak out or air may be sucked in.
Other causes of air leaking into the pump is from leaky valves in front of the pump low water level in the pool or a skimmer weir stuck in the up position.
The capacitor is what starts the pump by giving it a jolt of electricity.
When the pressure drops the pump cannot work efficiently resulting in a pool that gets dirty faster that it can be cleaned.

You can also switch to running the pump at night when it s cooler or alternatively providing more shade.
Pool pumps are supposed to be completely airtight.
If you neglect the skimmer filter and it gets clogged up the pressure in the water pump will drop.
If your pool pump starts but then shuts off on its own moments later it s often due to overheating.
Pump is not pumping water if the pump is not pumping water at all check that all suction and return valves are open and the pump lid is on tight with the lid o ring in place.
Usually it s because of a bad thread sealant crack in the pump an air leak in the suction line a plumbing issues on the suction side of the pump or a leaky valve stem.

First check to see if the pump is getting power and check your timer to make sure the pump is on.
